To answer your question, no it is not misleading as long as you provide a disclaimer. Something that looks like this, (I have been using the name Joe Smith professionally for X years) 

As long as you indicate the truth up front, then it is not misleading. 

And in regards to your resume. Sure you can adjust your resume to better match the job description. There is no need to offer more information than necessary. That is not misleading, that is being efficient. 

An open job is like an empty plug socket, the better you fit in the socket - the more likely you are to get the job. 

You sound like a smart person, so I am sure you will overcome the challenges of discrimination. If you are getting more of it than you can handle, feel free to reach out to me and I will be glad to assist.</description>
